US wholesale data center provider CoreSite Realty Corp., announced that Chinese telco CITIC Telecom International selected CoreSite's New York City campus for its east coast network deployment.
CITIC has multiple branches across the Asia Pacific region, where it provides telecommunication services. The CoreSite deployment will enable it to extend its service platform across North America in its efforts to become a global carrier.
The announcement follows CITIC's deployment at the CoreSite Los Angeles campus last year. With deployments on both the east and west coasts, the telco extends its North American service coverage and connectivity options for customers in Asia, North America and Europe.
CoreSite customers on both coasts can now connect directly to CITIC's network, giving them service gateways to the Asia Pacific region.
"This expanded presence in CoreSite's data centers and our membership in the CoreSite Mesh community simplifies and enhances global connectivity for customers, while providing a reliable and scalable platform for our leading ICT solutions,” Stephen Ho, CITIC's CEO, said. “Our relationship with CoreSite allows us to extend our coverage around the globe and grow our business."
CoreSite COO Jarrett Appleby said the deal opened up opportunities for the data center provider's customers to expand globally, drawing connections between CoreSite data centers in the US and CITIC infrastructure across China, South Asia, Japan and Australia.
