Cervalis, a US east-coast data center services provider, has raised US$75m in new credit from a group of lenders. It plans to spend the money on building a new data center in Connecticut and on refinancing some existing debt.

This will be Cervalis’ second data center in Connecticut. The 170,000-sq-ft facility will provide 50,000 sq ft of raised floor and 16MWE of utility power. It will also have a 50,000 sq ft business-continuity call center.

Michael Boccardi, Cervalis CEO, said, “The additional capital will enable us to meet strong customer demand for customized high availability, high power density data center and business continuity solutions.”

Cervalis currently has three data centers in the New York Tri-State area: one in New York, one in Connecticut and one in New Jersey.

The new Connecticut data center’s clients will be able to plug into a 2N uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system. The facility is backed up by an N+1 generator setup.

The company’s existing Connecticut data center has 20,000 sq ft of raised floor space and 20,000 sq ft of disaster-recovery space.
