Carter Validus, a US real estate investment trust specializing in data centers and hospitals, has grown its investment portfolio to a total of US$417.6m as of the end of 2012, the company reported Thursday.
Its last property acquisition of 2012 was a $4.7m surgery center in Houston in December. The trust announced its latest data center purchase in November, which was a US$65m fully leased 121,000 sq ft facility in Philadelphia.
John Carter, the firm’s CEO, said he was delighted to have been able to execute on the company’s strategy throughout the year. “With a robust pipeline of mission critical real estate acquisitions, we look forward to a very exciting 2013.”
The company’s 17-asset portfolio is currently 100% occupied.
Carter Validus has been pursuing an aggressive acquisition strategy, rapidly buying mission-critical properties around the US. In the fourth quarter alone, the company completed about $144m in acquisitions.
Its 2012 data center acquisitions included an Internap data center in Plano and an Atos data center in Arlington, Texas, a Peachtree Carnegie data center and a Peak 10 data center in Atlanta and a Level 3 data center Southfield, Michigan.
