It appears that the proposed site has become a political issue with the paper reporting that "Liberal leader Zed Seselja had flagged moving the project to another site.
The paper said the findings of survey by KPMG Econtech which will form part of an environmental impact study showed the project could inject $60 million a year into the local ACT economy.
Canberra Technology City would contribute 230 jobs during construction phase and about 426 jobs once operational. ACT Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief Chris Peters welcomed the figures and said with recent economic uncertainty having the data centre in Canberra was "even more crucial".
"This will help Canberra ride the economic storms, bring employment stability, significant investment and ongoing contributions to our economy in the order of $26million a year," he said.
