IT management software developer CA announced on Monday a plan to acquire network management and service delivery provider NetQoS. The two firms signed a definitive agreement to go through with the $200 million acquisition, according to a CA statement.

"With the addition of the NetQoS network flow monitoring, unified communications management and response-time analytic network solutions, CA will further strengthen its ability to help enterprise IT organizations and service providers deliver reliable, flexible and cost-effective IT and business services," said Ajei Gopal, EVP of CA's Products and Technology Group.

CA plans to provide its eHealth Network Performance Manager and Spectrum Infrastructure Manager in combination with the NetQoS Performance Center solution, which the company says will provide network engineers and operations managers more visibility and control of services in physical and virtual environments.

Combining CA Wily Application Performance Management solution with the Performance Center will make clients' networks "application-aware," providing them with both an outside-in and inside-out perspective of their business and IT services, CA said in a statement.

Once the deal is closed, current NetQoS CEO Joel Trammell will become senior vice president and general manager for CA and NetQoS CTO Cathy Fulton will join CA as senior vice president of software engineering. CA expects to complete the acquisition by the end of 2009.
