UK telco BT Group has posted a job listing for a principal solution architect.

The successful applicant can choose to be based out of the company's Birmingham, Bristol, or London offices.

The principal solution architect will join BT's broadband team as the overall design authority for content delivery network (CDN) and Edge compute solutions across BT, EE, and Plusnet’s broadband and mobile services.

According to the listing, the role will see the successful candidate "drive the development and delivery of a pan-BT strategy for Edge compute and content delivery."

BT said the role will help to create innovative services for customers and partners, develop and expand revenue streams, enhance customer experience, simplify and consolidate CDN and Edge compute functions, and deliver strategic transformation using cloud technologies and agile methodologies.

"We’ve seen an explosion in the volume of TV delivery across our network - a trend we expect to accelerate. To meet this demand, we’re looking for someone with significant CDN design expertise to help us co-create cutting-edge solutions with our content partners and deliver the best possible experience to our customers," said BT in its post.

"Aligned with this, we also anticipate the continued convergence of CDN and Edge compute capabilities. Experience in both domains will be highly valuable as we evolve our network to support new services, unlock fresh opportunities, and deliver enhanced performance at the Edge."

The post notes that the role will include hybrid working conditions, with three days in the office per week. The salary was not disclosed.

BT's job listing comes just weeks after the telco's specialist tower division director, David McKean, told TelcoTitans that the company is considering expanding into Edge computing services and monetizing its existing tower and telephone exchange portfolio.

In the interview last month, McKean said the operator was investigating how adapting its existing estate could unlock new relationships with enterprise and government clients, and support its ambitions around Edge services.
