The following content is from an older version of this website, and may not display correctly. Brocade is investing US$100m into its Asia Pacific operations to allow customers to help promote its Ethernet fabric for highly virtualized data centers.
The funding will enable Brocade's team in the region to evaluate current customer's projects for eligibility.
Brocade CEO Mike Klayko said the funding will help customers test the Ethernet fabric and other cloud infrastructure products and will enhance industry networking, with roundtables and more planned that will address issues of moving to the Ethernet fabric.
"Brocade intends to compete aggressively for the virtualization and cloud computing business in Asia Pacific," Klayko said.
The funding will also be used to increase its headcount in the region, despite it having doubled its headcount there in the last 10 months alone.
Brocade released its new Ethernet fabric play in December last year, with a solution powered by Brocade VCS technology through its VDX 6720 Data Center Switch.
It has since been followed by a number of fabric announcements, and it is expected Brocade will announce more advancements in its own fabric solutions in the first half of this year.
Juniper and Cisco have also recently released solutions around fabric ÔÇô Juniper's Qfabric is the most recent announcement. Its flat-fabric network architecture for data centers offers solutions based on scalability, with standard-off-the-shelf computing, storage and service elements.
