Bluetooth satellite company Hubble Network will expand its satellite network.

The Seattle-based startup intends to enable any Bluetooth-enabled device to transmit low-bandwidth data via satellite.

This enterprise service is called the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Finding Network. As per a LinkedIn post, the service could be used for “keeping tabs on high-value equipment, tracking pallets across multimodal supply chains, or monitoring shipments.”

As reported by TechCrunch, Hubble intends to send a phased-array receiver into space using two 500kg MuSat XL satellites designed by Silicon Valley-based space startup Muon Space, bringing Hubble’s total operational spacecraft to nine.

MuSat XL is slated to launch in 2027, and Hubble will be its first customer.

Hubble said that the satellites would deliver a 12-hour global revisit time – meaning that the spacecraft will require 12 hours to pass over the same point – and detect BLE signals at 30 times lower power than is currently possible.

Hubble was founded by entrepreneur Alex Haro in 2021. Haro currently sits on the board of Life360, a company he co-founded and previously led as president.

The startup announced in March 2024 that it had achieved the world’s first direct Bluetooth connection to space following the launch of its first two satellites. In 2023, Hubble closed a $20m Series A funding round led by venture capital firm Transpose Platform, with participation from other organizations, including Y Combinator, Yes.VC, and Convective Capital.
