Bermudan telco Paradise Mobile has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider to help build its Open RAN 4G and 5G network.

The partnership will see Paradise leverage AWS for digital platform workloads, while there are agreements in place to roll out AWS Edge services across the island to host the wireless core and Open RAN DU and CU workloads.

It comes a couple of months after the Bermudan newcomer struck a deal with Mavenir Telecom to help power Paradise Mobile's network.

Paradise said the tie-up will also provide local businesses in the IoT industry with the necessary tools and infrastructure to rapidly develop, test, and deploy cutting-edge products and services.

"We see Amazon as a strategic long-term collaborator who shares our vision and values, and has the ability to significantly accelerate our roadmap of innovative new products and services we want to launch in Bermuda," said Sam Tabbara, co-founder and CEO of Paradise Mobile.

"This relationship will allow us to provide our customers with the best possible experience and create a hub for IoT innovation in Bermuda and beyond," Tabbara added.

Paradise is also eyeing expansion to other CARICOM markets, with announcements on this to come in the near future.

Paradise is set to launch in the country this year, with Tabbara, formerly of Bell Canada, co-founding the company in 2019 to compete with Digicel and One Communications.
