Real estate company Benaroya has bought its second data center property, expanding its mission-critical portfolio beyond its native Washington State.

Bellevue-based Benaroya’s new data center is a former HP facility in Boise, Idaho, which the former owner sold as part of its worldwide data center consolidation program, according to a Benaroya news release. The company is targeting both Boise and Seattle markets with its new facility.

Larry Benaroya, of the Benaroya Company, said the acquisition expanded the company’s regional data center base. "We believe Boise is a strong market for colocation and disaster recovery with significant demand for low to medium density data center space," he said.

The Boise data center provides about 29,000 sq ft of raised floor in a building that is more than 60,000 sq ft in size. The facility is ready for immediate occupancy.

Network carriers providing connectivity at the site are Qwest, 360 Networks and Time Warner.

Benaroya’s other data center property is actually two buildings on the same site in Puyallup, Washington. Called the South Hill data center, the site provides about 57,000 sq ft in one building and 60,000-70,000 sq ft in the other.
