Singapore - Telstra Global Business Asia's (Telstra) IT Services division, KAZ, has signed a multi-million US dollar contract with Baxter Healthcare to manage the healthcare company's IT systems and to consolidate its previous four regional data centres into a single Asia Pacific data centre within KAZ Singapore's facilities.

Telstra won the five-year contract from an RFP. Under the contract, Telstra will deliver fully managed outsourced IT services including: consolidation of Baxter's data centres in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Japan into a single site located in Singapore, with all applications to be supported from Singapore including manufacturing, R&D;, financials, email, warehousing and distribution; hot site disaster recovery enabling transfer to backup systems within 30 minutes after an incident; and hosting hardware and applications and full delivery of services.

Under this deal, Telstra will also provide an on-demand service that will enable Baxter to turn on additional power at the flick of a switch if it needs more demand in the future.
