Network operator Ibercom has inaugurated Guipuzkoa's first Internet Data Center (IDC), at a total cost of one million Euros with the capacity to house more than 3,300 servers. The data center has optical fibre links connecting it to the rest of the Ibercom network and the Internet traffic exchange points that give access to worldwide operators.
At a press conference held at the company's head offices, Ibercom CEO Carlos Antolinez, accompanied for the occasion by Provincial Council Innovation and Knowledge Society Department chief Joaquin Villa, described the Guipuzkoa IDC as "one of the few in the Spanish State offering all the services available from a single operator, plus high capacity connections and a unified overall service."
Ibercom's IDC has two rooms specially fitted to house upwards of 3,300 servers. Optical fibre links are a major feature of the set-up, connecting the center's rooms to the rest of the company's network and to the Internet traffic exchange points enabling access to other world operators.
