Amazon Web Services' (AWS) head of worldwide telecommunications strategy and solution sales and director, Sameer Vuyyuru, has announced he will leave the company in the coming weeks.

In an announcement on LinkedIn last week, Vuyyuru revealed he will join Capita as chief AI and product officer, as first reported by LightReading.

Vuyyuru confirmed he will start his new role on December 3, 2024. His replacement at AWS has not been announced.

He has been at AWS since April 2020, joining the company from network services startup Wayz.ai, where he was co-founder and CEO.

"Thank you for the trust and the opportunity Adolfo Hernandez, the Executive team at Capita, and the board. I am looking forward to joining the team and contributing from December. Unbelievably excited about the opportunity ahead in the age of GenAI for Capita," said Vuyyuru.

"Until December, for the next five weeks, there are telco customers to serve at AWS, incredible talent to learn from, and contribute my little bit to this incredible organization I've been lucky to be part of for the last five years."

Hernandez was previously VP for AWS' global telecom unit.

Vuyyuru has also held roles at Comtech, Semtech, Intersil, and semiconductor firm Texas Instruments.
