ArvinMeritor, a Tier One automotive supplier, has reportedly announced it will close its Columbus data center within the next six months.
The statement was made in a press release by Major Fred Armstrong, who added: "The announcement that ArvinMeritor will outsource their technology services is a day that we hoped would not come."
According to the mayor's office, the decision is not a reflection of the company's local workforce but instead based in changes in the wider global economy. The proposed move follows the closure of Arvin Meritor's Toronto assembly plant.
Opened in October of 2002. This Columbus facility replaced the former IT Center which had been housed since the 1960s in the former headquarters building (1931) at 1531 13th Street in Columbus.
