Atos has launched a software defined Digital Data Centre offering that will design, plan, set up and manage services for customers.
A global support team has been allocated to migrating customers to the new Digital Data Centre service which will complement its existing EMC and VMware based cloud service Canopy.
Built on a foundation of VMware’s vCloud Suite, NSX, Virtual SAN and vRealize Suite, its virtualized computing offering includes networking, storage and automated management.
Yet another digital revolution
Digital Data Centre head Eric Grall called it ‘the third digital revolution’. “This is where IT finally provides infrastructure resources just when our customers need them,” said Grall.
A software-defined data center architecture will create a flexible, scalable, agile IT infrastructure, according to Todd Surdey, VMware’s VP of global strategic alliances and emerging partners. The key is that the intelligence moves out of the hardware devices towards a new over-arching software layer, according to Surdey.
