Atos Bull Sequana has won the contract to supply Brazil’s state-owned oil and gas company, Petrobras, with a new AI supercomputer.

According to a report from BNamericas, Atos Bull submitted a winning bid of $138 million, beating out three other companies, including Dell, which contested the result.

The other bids were from Lenovo and Adata, the report said. In September 2024, Petrobras announced plans to invest $89m to acquire five new Lenovo supercomputers, the last of which is due to be delivered to Petrobras within two weeks.

According to Petrobras, the new supercomputer must be able to support Nvidia H100s and H200s, in addition to B100s and B200s from the chipmaker’s Blackwell line. No further information has been reported about the anticipated compute power of the Atos Bull supercomputer.

The company has previously said it will use at least one of its supercomputers to process seismic data and create simulations of the Earth’s subsurface, allowing the company to identify new oil and gas reserves.

In March 2025, Petrobras launched a tender for data processing and storage capabilities, inviting bids from data center colocation firms to host equipment for critical applications and high-performance computing systems.
