Aslan Energy Capital, a Singaporean renewable developer, has partnered with the Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (JIEP), Indonesia’s first industrial estate, to develop a 40MW data center in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The two companies signed a binding Heads of Agreement to develop the Aslan Jakarta Data Centre (AJDC).

The AJDC will be located in East Jakarta, within the JIEP. It will span 40,000 sqm (430,556 sq ft) and house more than 7,000 server racks.

The facility will be primarily powered by renewable energy and will integrate a 120MW Battery Energy Storage System. The renewable power is expected to be sourced through the JIEP partnership.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Muthu Chezhian, CEO of Aslan Energy Capital, said: "This partnership reflects our shared vision to power the digital future with clean, reliable, and scalable infrastructure that respects environmental limits while enabling economic transformation."

The data center is slated for operation by Q4 2027 and will serve various clients through a colocation model. The data center will comprise two stories and utilize modular and prefab components, which the partners say will allow for rapid deployment and minimal construction impact. As a result, 40 percent of the land will be dedicated to the built infrastructure, with the remaining 60 percent preserved as a natural corridor.

The data center will also deploy hybrid air-cooled heat, which the companies claim removes reliance on cooling towers, allowing for significant savings in water use.

Jakarta is one of Indonesia’s data center hotspots, with several major providers with facilities in operation and development in the city, including Equinix, STT GDC, and Digital Realty.

Jakarta is also home to Google and Microsoft, which both operate cloud regions in the region.
