Containerized Edge data center firm Armada is partnering with UnityCloud.ai to develop sovereign cloud infrastructure in partnership with tribal nations in North America.

Armada revealed the partnership in a LinkedIn post, writing: "Excited to collaborate with UnityCloud to deliver sovereign cloud infrastructure built with tribal nations, combining enterprise-grade performance, renewable energy, and enhanced data protections.

"Armada will continue partnering with mission-aligned organizations to accelerate bridging the digital divide globally."

Armada develops containerized Edge data centers, launching an AI data center offering dubbed Leviathan in July of this year.

Details of the partnership with UnityCloud are limited.

UnityCloud describes itself as a company developing "AI infrastructure through sovereign, renewable-powered data centers built in partnership with Native American tribes." It offers cloud hosting, IaaS, GPUaaS, and data storage and backup services among others.

Commenting on the Armada collaboration, UnityCloud wrote on LinkedIn: "We’re so excited for this partnership. This [is] only the beginning, so many more great things to come!"

DCD has contacted the companies for more information about the scale of their plans, and timelines for deployment.

Earlier this year, Armada raised $131 million from investors.

So far in 2025, Armada has deployed its Edge containerized data centers with Tampnet for offshore oil rigs, the US Navy in South Carolina, Aramco in Saudi Arabia, and Newlab in Detroit and Riyadh.

In July 2024, Microsoft's M12 led another funding round for Armada which raised $40m. At the time, the company said this brought its total funding to more than $100m.
