Data center colocation services provider Argosy Networks has kicked off construction of a 40,000 sq ft data center in Toronto.

The company expects to bring capacity for 200 racks online when the first phase of construction is completed in the summer of 2014. The company said the facility will provide 8MW of critical power capacity.

Harish Srinivasa, Argosy president and CEO, said, “Our new data center offers customers a scalable, reliable and cost-effective solution for enterprises looking to expand and reduce cost in the Toronto area while optimizing performance with direct, low-latency access to Canada's premier telecommunication hub.”

The telco hub is at 151 Front St., a major Toronto carrier hotel. Argosy plans to build 10Gbps links to the building from its data center.

The company's services at the facility will include colocation, managed services, disaster recovery and cloud hosting.
