Yahoo’s CEO Scott Thompson stepped down this week following allegations he had misrepresented his studies on his CV and his discovery this week that he is suffering thyroid cancer.
Yahoo’s shares rose on Monday by 1.7% following the news.
Thompson ran into trouble when the search internet company was forced to make an announcement that he held only an accounting degree and not the degree in computer science as stated on his CV.
Thompson took on the role as CEO in January this year after working at PayPal as President and SVP and CTO, where he looked after PayPal’s architecture and IT. According to some reports, Ross Levinsohn, Yahoo’s executive VP for the Americas, is in the running to be Yahoo’s next CEO for 2012.
Australian CIOs come out on top
It has four of the most liveable cities in the world according to The Economist, and this could especially ring true for Australia’s CIOs, who are said to receive some of the best paid positions in the world.
Research the 2012 Harvey Nash CIO Survey found about half the CIOs in Australia were looking after growing budgets, and were paid an average wage of US$260,000 a year to do so.
HP’s Peter Ryan runs EMEA Enterprise Group
HP’s SVP of ESSN (Enterprise Server Storage and Networking) Peter Ryan has been appointed as the company’s new SVP and general manager for the EMEA Enterprise Group.
The enterprise group represents the coming together of HP’s ESSN and Global Accounts and Technology Services divisions following HP’s restructure announced earlier in the year.
