Content delivery network provider Akamai has announced three major executive appointments in the service provision, marketing and HR departments of its EMEA HQ in the UK.

It has appointed Mark Weeks as regional VP service providers, John Dillon as VP of marketing, and Anita Athwal as senior HR director.

Weeks and Dillon join from BT Global Services and Alcatel-Lucent respectively, while Athwal’s track record includes positions at Monitise and Technetix.  

HITEC hires new CEO
Netherlands-based turnkey power solutions developer HITEC Power Generation has appointed Ivo H.L. M˺nnink as its new CEO.

M˺nnink is tasked with introducing HITEC into new vertical markets, broadening the company’s global footprint, and accelerating enhancements in customer-focused, mission-critical power supply technology.

M˺nnink has over 25 years’ experience building global enterprises; prior to HITEC he was CEO of Netherlands-based power equipment provider FERM B.V., and has held marketing roles at Nike and Unilever.

Unify appoints CEO
Munich-based Unify, formerly Siemens Enterprise Communications, has appointed Dean Douglas as CEO.

He succeeds Hamid Akhavan who joined as CEO from Deutsche Telekom in February 2010.

Douglas, who currently serves as President and CEO of enterprise technology distributor Westcon Group Inc., was previously CEO of LCC International and has also held a number of executive roles at both IBM and Motorola.  

ONF appoints new chairperson
The Open Networking Foundation (ONF), a non-profit organization aiming to accelerate the adoption of open Software-Defined Networking (SDN), has announced the appointment of Sarwar Raza as chairperson of the Northbound Interfaces (NBI) Working Group.

Raza was previously director of cloud networking and SDN in the Advanced Technology Group within the networking organization at HP.

Raza said the NBI Working Group is working to enable the acceleration of open SDN adoption and innovation by codifying multi-vendor, multi-controller SDN Northbound Interfaces.

“The aim is not only to gain understanding but also to have working implementations on both open-source and vendor controllers by the end of 2014,” Raza said.
