A developer has filed an interconnect application for a 250MW data center in Greater Napanee, Canada, but local officials have said that no application for the campus has been received.

In 2025, Napanee Environmental Complex, Inc. filed an application with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), Ontario’s grid operator, for a project called the Napanee Data Park that has a proposed in-service date of Q1 2028.

The Town of Greater Napanee told the Kingston Whig-Standard that the town had “not received any application from a party interested in creating a data center.”

But officials did say that the Town was interested in attracting investment.

“At a high level, I can confirm that the town itself has received no applications of any kind that would confirm investment in an energy-intensive industry that is scheduled to come to Greater Napanee, but that staff have been engaged in ongoing efforts to attract such investment,” said the Town’s chief administrative officer, Matthew Grant, to the Kingston Whig-Standard.

Engineering consultants Lazier also list the project on their website.

DCD has reached out to the Town of Greater Napanee and Lazier for comment.

Greater Napanee, located in southeastern Ontario, is not a major data center hub. Most of Ontario’s data centers are clustered around Toronto, the province’s capital and the country’s largest city.

A spokesperson from Lazier has sent DCD a statement regarding the project:

"Due to client confidentiality agreements and the commercially sensitive nature of data centre development projects, we are unable to disclose the identity of project owners, investors, specific sites, or the details of our current engagements."
