Banking services company Empresa Interbancária de Serviços is planning a 1,250 square metre datacenter in the Angolan capital of Luanda.

The datacenter will have total usable server area of 300 square metres, 8KVA of electric voltage, 30 cubic metres of fuel reserves, 20 cubic metres of water, 400 KW of refrigeration power and a 60 metre-high communications tower.

The firm said it planned to spend 13 million euro on the project due for completion in the first quarter of 2010.

The datacenter will handle ATM operations and data storage. Construction to be headed by Portuguese company Teixeira Duarte will begin in November.

The bank said it had explored the datacenter hosting market within Angola and that its potential had influenced the viability of the project.
