Customers in mainland China, Hong Kong, and the United States were affected, and the problem seemed to primarily affect Alibaba's database management products, including PostgreSQL, Redis, and MySQL edition.

"From 09:16 Beijing time (01:16 GMT) on November 27, 2023, Alibaba Cloud monitoring detected abnormalities in console and OpenAPI access for database products," Alibaba Cloud said.

The issue "was resolved at 10:58 on the same day."

The previous outage on November 12 lasted more than three hours and impacted more of the world. It also affected more services.

The outage comes weeks after Alibaba announced that it would scrap its plans to spin out its cloud computing unit and list it on the stock market.

On Friday, 24 November, the company overhauled the division's management - bringing in Weiguang Liu to lead the public cloud division, Jin Li to lead the hybrid cloud unit, and Jiangwei Jiang to lead the cloud infrastructure unit.
