Russian telecommunications specialist Akado Telecom has obtained Tier III Design Document certification from the Uptime Institute for its data center in Moscow.

The certificate proves that the facility was designed to be concurrently maintainable, meaning it requires no shutdowns for equipment replacement and maintenance.

Next, Akado is planning to finish the process, and obtain constructed facility certification within the next two years to prove that the project was carried out according to specification.

The facility on Varshavskoye Highway measures 1,200 square meters. It has enough space to host 192 racks, and enough power to support up to 2MW of equipment.

Akado Telecom (registered as COMCOR) is the flagship of the Akado Group, a collection of media and IT businesses owned by Russian conglomerate Renova.

It began its life as the first provider of cable TV in Moscow, eventually expanding into networking services, DDoS protection, colocation and cloud hosting – the latter based on Huawei Fusion Cube hyperconverged infrastructure.

The company announced it has obtained Tier III design certification for facility codenamed ‘Voskhod’ (Dawn) in the northern suburbs of Moscow. The certificate proves that the data center was architected to provide a high standard of reliability – it is one of just five data centers in Russia to achieve Tier III level of certification.

“We initially designed the DC with the requirements of Tier III in mind, and having a reliability certificate of this level is one of the must-haves, as the amount of data in use is growing and the demand for secure data storage is increasing,” explained Sergey Nazarov, CEO of COMCOR.

“Being compliant with the stringent international requirements guarantees a high level of service quality at Akado Telecom and strengthens our position on the DC market. In the nearest future, we plan to obtain Facility certification,” he added.
