The facility will be set on a 40-acre plot, according to a report from the Hindu Business Line, though further specifications have not yet been shared.

This follows a recent $600 million investment from the operator to double its current data center capacity.

“The Hyderabad data center should be ready in two years and reach full capacity in about five years,” said Ashish Arora, CEO of Nxtra by Airtel.

The company also announced plans to deploy Ecolibrium’s AI-powered SmartSense platform in its core data centers.

Having already implemented the new AI technology in its Chennai data center, the operator said it will use real-time performance analytics to identify early signs of deterioration and provide corrective recommendations.

The platform is said to be able to reduce non-IT power consumption by 10 percent and will see a 25 percent improvement in productivity across all data center operations.

Arora said: “The partnership with Ecolibrium and the integration of AI into the core of our data centers is a crucial step in this direction with which we will advance our energy efficiency and overall performance.”

Nxtra is a major data center operator in India, currently operating 12 facilities in the country and 120 Edge data centers or Points of Presence.

The company is currently developing facilities in Noida, Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.
