Following a report on strong take-up of space at its recently acquired mega-data center in Singapore, Digital Realty Trust revealed that one of the first tenants in the building was Adobe.

Adobe took the space to use it for data collection and processing, reportedly in response to increased demand for its Software-as-a-Service offerings in Asia-Pacific. Brandon Pulsipher, VP of network operations at Adobe's Omniture business unit, said the company was planning to add more data centers in the region.

"Adobe is firmly committed to expanding and providing improved services to our Asia-Pacific customers," he said in a statement. "In addition to Singapore, Adobe is actively exploring other markets and we expect to deliver additional Asia-Pacific service locations in the future."

Omniture, formerly an independent firm, provides a number of e-commerce products and services. Adobe bought it for about US$1.8bn in 2009 with the goal of integrating its web analytics, measurement and optimization technologies with Adobe's content-creation tools.

Digital realty is providing a turn-key data center for Adobe in the Singapore facility, located in the City of Jurong. The San Francisco-based data center developer and operator's turn-key product is a fully fledged data center, fitted out with all the necessary power and cooling infrastructure equipment.

The company builds these using its proprietary POD architecture. At its turn-key suites, Digital provides metered power, charging its customers for the power they use. Centralized monitoring and management of power consumption, energy efficiency and load analysis are done through Digital's PowerVU software.

Digital bought the seven-story Jurong data center from the German engineering and construction firm M+W Zander for about US$139m. M+W originally built it for the Japan-based real-estate company Japan Land, which was forced to sell it to the builder after losing a major investor in the project.
