Though not specified in the announcement the partner is likely to be either HP or Sun - though Verari systems are also a partner.
In 2009 Active Power signed a deal HP to become a Data Center Solutions Partner for the company to supply power supplies for the IT giant's POD container product.
The year before it had signed a similar deal with Sun Microsystems to power its containerised data center.
To date manufacturers of containerised data centers have not named many, if any customers for their products.
The company claimed the order represents the largest single order in its history.
