1&1 Towers, a subsidiary of German operator 1&1, has struck a deal to acquire 7,500 antenna sites for its 5G rollout.

Eubanet specializes in the site acquisition of suitable locations for new radio systems.

Although the exact terms of the transaction have not been revealed, 1&1 is obliged to cover 50 percent of households in Germany with its 5G service by 2030.

The company is also obliged to deploy at least 1,000 base stations this year.

"Direct collaboration with a highly experienced acquisition partner is another step for us to achieve the expansion targets for our new OpenRAN mobile network", said Head of 1&1 AG Ralph Dommermuth.

1&1 will be banking on its existing deals with tower firms Vantage Towers AG and American Towers Corporation to achieve its ambitions, while German company GfTD is also building new antenna sites for the operator.
