DatacenterDynamics (DCD) announces a new strategic partnership with AFRY, bringing AFRY’s comprehensive energy market data and modelling into the DCD Intelligence platform.

Energy at the heart of data center growth

As the data center industry scales to meet the surging demand from AI, energy has become one of the defining constraints and opportunities shaping digital infrastructure development.

Power availability, pricing volatility, and renewables access are now critical variables influencing where and how facilities are built. These factors can have a material impact on the long-term viability of these facilities.

Dan Loosemore, CEO, DCD, explains: “Energy has long been a driver of site selection, but it is now more vital than ever for operators and investors to understand energy availability, costs, and potential risks with complete clarity.

“By integrating AFRY’s market-leading, proprietary energy data and industry consulting into the DCD Intelligence platform, we are equipping our subscribers with the contextual insight they need to make smarter, faster, and more resilient infrastructure decisions.”

What the partnership delivers, and why it matters

Through this partnership, AFRY will provide DCD Intelligence with a snapshot of data from its proprietary market report products and BID3 modelling, which will be made available to subscribers directly within the DCD Intelligence platform.

This dataset will provide a critical new layer, enabling users to understand how energy market fundamentals are impacting both operational and planned facilities across countries and regions.

This includes historical and forecasted data covering wholesale electricity prices up to 2030, capture prices for solar PV and wind, annual demand/load outlooks, net generation by technology, fuel price trajectories, and CO2 emissions projections. As a premium service, users will also be able to access AFRY’s wider market analysis product offerings, which include long-term forecasts, flexibility, gas, carbon markets, and other data products.

By combining DCD’s data center construction intelligence with AFRY’s proprietary energy data, subscribers can assess regional power market risk and opportunity within a single analytical environment.

Richard Payne, Head of Data Center Practice for Management Consulting in AFRY, commented:

“The data center sector is becoming an increasingly significant and complex component of global power systems. Developers, operators, and investors need a robust understanding of how data center growth affects electricity markets and future energy scenarios to plan effectively.

"Through our collaboration with DCD Intelligence, we are bringing high-quality, data-driven energy market insight directly into the workflows of those shaping the next generation of digital infrastructure.”

The importance of unified market intelligence

AFRY joins an expansive list of DCD partners, including leading technology vendors and colocation providers, who will be providing proprietary data that will be available on the DCD Intelligence platform.

These partnerships reflect DCD’s overall strategy: to build the most comprehensive, decision-grade intelligence platform for the global data center industry.

DCD Intelligence will be releasing its beta version in Q2 2026, with a wider market release scheduled for Q3 of this year.
