Major data center fires in APAC have shown how quickly one incident can take critical services offline, exposing weaknesses in backup storage and incident-response coordination. In a region facing power reliability challenges and growing cyber-physical vulnerabilities, operators must strengthen their ability to protect uptime and maintain business continuity. As facilities become larger and more interconnected, even minor faults can escalate into major outages. The question now is whether today’s facilities are resilient enough to ensure uptime in an era of extreme scale and complexity.

This debate will explore:

  • Whether current design, maintenance, and response strategies can prevent cascading failures
  • If operators should focus investment on redundancy or smarter detection and automation
  • The extent to which AI-driven monitoring and analytics can improve early warning and fault isolation
  • Whether full network segmentation improves resilience or slows incident response
  • To what extent cyber-physical vulnerabilities are reshaping outage risk
  • Whether human error remains the greatest outage risk in an era of automation

Held under Chatham House Rule, DCD>Debates are open discussions led by a panel of experts, on the biggest issues to face the industry.
