5G disrupts - will a ‘data explosion’ at the edge spell death for the centralized data center?
Some experts believe 5G is the key to ushering in a new technological age - but how will this affect the data center industry? 5G may just seem like a simple step up from 4G LTE networks, but this could prove to be only a sliver of the truth. In fact, there are multiple key areas of technology that 5G technology is going to unlock. As the oldest largest content distribution network in existence and responsible for serving up to 30% of global web traffic, Akamai began deploying servers around the world in 1998. This keynote will examine how Akamai are positioning their network evolution to deal with the 5G revolution and why the ‘data center’ in all its forms - from core to edge and micro to hyperscale - will be at the centre.
