Canada-based data center and cloud services provider TeraGo Inc. has purchased a 10,000 sq ft, Tier3-ready data center facility in Mississauga, Ontario. The facility was previously operated by BlackBerry, and comes equipped with 4.8-MW of power, N+2 availability of generators, and can be expanded by an additional 1,600 sq ft, according to a press release statement from TeraGo.T

The acquisition of the Mississauga facility is the second such data center purchase for TeraGo this year in the greater Toronto area. In May the company announced the purchase of a 16,000 sq ft data center in Vaughan, Ontario, when it acquired Data Centers Canada.

The Vaughan facility provides colocation and disaster recovery services for businesses, enterprises, public sector organizations, and technology service providers.

This second facility in the Toronto metro area is in response to customer demand for “premium data center services”, TeraGo noted in a statement.

"This unique, high power facility was important for us to add to our footprint, as we have seen a vast increase in the amount of power required to service individual customers," said Stewart Lyons, CEO and president of TeraGo, in a statement. "Customers are focusing more and more on high-density server capability, and this site will future-proof us in this regard. It's the perfect site from which to grow our cloud computing environment."

TeraGo previously acquired two data center facilities in Vancouver – one in February 2014 and another in April 2014. The purchase of the former BlackBerry data center facility gives TeraGo a total of four data centers in Canada, with 40,000 sq ft of availability.
