The former CTO and VP of cloud computing at Sun Microsystems ÔÇô now part of Oracle ÔÇô has accepted a similar position with another Silicon Valley tech behemoth.

Lew Tucker announced at the GigaOm Structure 2010 conference in San Francisco on Wednesday that he will be joining Cisco as its new CTO of cloud computing.

"After the Oracle acquisition of Sun closed, I took a couple of months off," Tucker said. "Once Cisco started talking about what they were going to be doing with the cloud, I couldn't resist."

Oracle completed the acquisition in January, paying more than $7bn for the IT hardware manufacturer.

Tucker's past roles include CTO and VP of engineering at Radar Networks and VP of AppExchange at Salesforce.com.
