Emerson Network Power has unveiled innovative new features for its flagship cooling unit, the Liebert PCW, in the EMEA region including a new calculator app for the iPad which can measure Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).

It has also extended the range’s capabilities, with a cooling capacity of up to 240kW as well as a new version of the Liebert PCW featuring a CW dual circuit.

The Liebert PCW app is now available for iPad from the Apple store. It allows data center managers to keep a diary of their data center’s PUE enabling more accurate decision-making about how and where energy savings can be made.

Two different calculators are included in the app; the PUE calculator allows anyone to calculate the PUE of their data center, while the basic running cost calculator highlights exactly how much money can be saved by installing more efficient equipment, such as the Liebert PCW.

Cooling systems typically account for 30-40% of energy consumption within a data center, so addressing their efficiency is a top priority for data center managers.

The app also includes an X-ray view into the Liebert PCW, giving users the opportunity to study the technical features of the solution and see exactly how its technology can deliver energy savings for their data center.

A further range of options for the Liebert PCW are being launched in EMEA. These will improve energy efficiency and environmental management, and include:
 *A new model of Liebert PCW featuring a dual CW circuit - a configuration which offers cooling redundancy to customers who cannot install two units, without compromising efficiency. Currently Liebert PCW delivers efficiency with up to 65% energy saving, and it is capable of achieving a mechanical PUE of 1.11 when installed as a system alongside the Liebert HPC Freecooling Chiller

 *New size - the unit now comes in a 3350mm frame, enabling users to extend the cooling capacity up to 240 kW. This will allow users to reach an installed capacity under the same control loop of 7,5MW

 *Infrared humidifier, ultrasonic humidifier and water flow meter - these three options enhance the Liebert PCW capabilities when supporting units which feature temperature and humidity monitoring options
