Privately held energy management firm Power Assure closed $13.5m of series B funding. Swiss engineering and power giant ABB leg the round.

The firm landed a tier 1 customer when NASA standardized on Power Assure across all of its 75 data centers.

"We are very pleased to have secured a new funding round led by our strategic partner ABB with reinvestments from our existing top-tier backers," said Brad Wurtz, president and CEO of Power Assure.  "Earlier this year we integrated our EM/4 software with ABB’s automation and control software and devices."

The new round brings to $28.75m the amount that Power Assure has raised to date.  In addition, the company has a $5 million matching-fund grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Good Energies, and Judith Point Capital all participated.
