It's been reported by local media outlet Lusa that details published by the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Guinea-Bissau revealed the plans.

It suggests that the country is keen to look into the privatization of the two companies.

In 2013, the Guinea-Bissau government declared Guine Telecom and its mobile services brand Guinetel bankrupt.

However, in 2021 both companies were awarded operating licenses with the hope of being revived by the country's government.

Guinetel’s license was given by the regulator ARN (Autoridade Reguladora Nacional das Tecnologias de Informacao e Comunicacao / National Regulatory Authority of Information and Communication Technologies), while Guinea-Bissau communications minister Augusto Gomes awarded a single individual license to Guine Telecom.
