Indian Energy firm ZR Power Holdings is building two data centers in India, and is upping its previously stated investment in the projects.

The Indian Economic Times reports the Telangana-based company plans to invest more than Rs 1,700 crore ($223.2m) to develop a data center at Mahape in Navi Mumbai.

The proposed 50MW facility is expected to be sat on a 10-acre plot the company is in the process of acquiring. The data center is expected to be operational by mid-2024.

In December 2021, the Telangana-headquartered company had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra government to spend over Rs 1,200 crore for setting up two data centers; one each in Navi Mumbai (Rs 800 crore/$105m) and Pune (Rs 400 crore/$52.5m).

“The project will not only create hundreds of jobs and provide direct and indirect employment opportunities for the local people, but will also contribute to the sustainable development of Maharashtra,” said Zain Ravadji, chairman, ZR Power Holding.

ZR Power develops renewable energy projects. The company reportedly currently has a data center under construction in Dubai under the Guardian Data Centers brand.
