Emerson Network Power has announced a higher-capacity unit in its Liebert EFC range that offers evaporative free cooling up to a power of 350kW.
The Liebert EFC range, which arrived in Europe in December 2014, offers indirect evaporative free cooling, using the “wet T-shirt effect” to cool data centers using the outside air, promising a partial power usage effectiveness (pPUE) of 1.03, potentially saving €280,000 per year at a 1MW data center currently achieving a pPUE of 1.3 The new high-capacity model means that larger data centers can be cooled using fewer units.
Higher performance
“This latest product, specifically designed for medium to large-sized data centres, offers a complete set of benefits including enhanced and efficient cooling capacities as well as further cost savings,” said Roberto Felisi, product marketing director of thermal management at Emerson Network Power in EMEA.
The Liebert EFC systems use an air-to-air heat exchanger and have been updated and include Emerson’s “LIFE” - a remote diagnostics and monitoring service run by Emerson from dedicated centers.
Emerson has a dedicated thermal management demonstration area in its center at Padova, Italy, which can simulate customer loads of up to 400kW, and airflow up to 100,000 cubic meters per hour, in an environments typical across the EMEA region.
Dedicated software optimises air and water flow so power is not wasted.
