"Demand remained firm in most customer segments, and we saw some sizable wins in both data centers and the oil and gas sectors," CFO Timo Ihamuotila said on an earnings call.

CEO Björn Klas Rosengren added: "Data center is an important segment for us in not only in Electrification, also in the Motion business, which we’re driving," with ABB Motion including gen sets and cooling motors.

"Today, we are close to $1.3 billion in size of what we are supplying into the data centers, and we’re seeing a good double-digit growth in this business, and we believe that it will continue," Rosengren continued.

The chief executive added that ABB sold well to "both small and hyperscalers," and called the sector "a healthy business." He added: "It’s not a margin-pressed business for us. We are delivering a good margin to this industry."

Across all sectors, ABB reported revenues of $8.2bn, up 13 percent.
