Connect | New York // Energy Summit: Deal or no deal: Financing the data center power crunch
- —
- Mission Critical Power
- Investment & Markets
- Open Session
Data centers are booming and capital is pouring in, but not every structure is bankable. In this live Deal or No Deal session, financiers walk through practical financing toolkits for data center power projects, including loans, on balance sheet funding and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). Without revealing confidential pricing, they’ll share how risk, returns, and structures shift across different project sizes: below 5 MW, 5-50 MW, and projects above 50 MW.
We’ll test out power plans, contract structures, and policy levels like IRA transferability, and how the storage ITC will change the game and its timeline. Expect audience voting with a practical playbook to take away.
The session will run as follows:
- Financing toolkit revealed by institution showing how lenders and investors approach debt, equity, PPAs, and risk allocation by project size
- Deal 1 - Powered land plus phased build
- Deal 2 - Enterprise anchored facility plus wholesale expansion
- Deal 3 - Large campus with integrated energy and storage, using tools like IRA transferability and ITC storage
- Vote - Deal or no deal? What would make you flip deal from no deal and vice versa
Using Sli.Do, you'll also have your say by deciding whether you would take the deal or walk away. Expect to walk away with a better understanding of the top bankability drivers and how you should approach lenders as a data center sponsor.
