High land costs, varied climates, and country-specific regulations make APAC one of the most complex regions for data center design and construction. Add to this a shrinking server lifecycle, faster technology shifts, and growing demand for AI ready facilities and the case for standardised builds is under pressure. How do data center providers plan for agility when infrastructure refresh cycles are accelerating? And is the pace of change simply outpacing our current design assumptions?

This debate will explore how design and build teams are navigating the rising cost of flexibility, the growing pressure for speed to market, and the need to design facilities that can serve fast-evolving workloads. Panellists will discuss whether regionally tailored builds offer better agility and cost control, and the impact geopolitical tensions and shifting customer demands are having on long-term design strategy. Can the industry still aim for design consistency or has divergence become inevitable?
