A combination of factors has created the conditions for an unprecedented buildout of data center capacity in India. India's data center capacity is forecast to grow fivefold to over 8GW by 2030, representing $30B in capital expenditures. The country hosts the largest and most data-intensive mobile user base in the world, the roll-out of ubiquitous 5G, a government mandate for data sovereignty, on top of the rapidly changing demands of artificial intelligence. On the other hand, the country continues to struggle with an overconcentration of data centers, energy limitations and labor bottlenecks. Leaders discuss the future of the regional powerhouse.
- What capital sources are expanding in India, and which players are leading investment?
- Does Mumbai risk being overconcentrated with data centers? Which operators are pushing on the expansion into markets outside of core cities?
- To what extent is grid access and grid modernization a growing issue in India, and how can investment support the immense scale needed?
- Analysing bottlenecks for securing long-term renewable energy contracts in India
