FAQs
This course is designed for engineers and technical professionals who work with or make decisions about data center power systems. That includes consulting engineers involved in mechanical and electrical data center design; critical infrastructure and facilities engineers responsible for power system operations and reliability; data center operators and technical managers who oversee power infrastructure; and sales and product engineers who need deep technical understanding of power systems to support credible client engagement.
This course is not designed for learners seeking introductory or awareness-level training; the Data Center Design Awareness course covers power systems at that level. It is also not suited to non-technical audiences without responsibility for power, facilities, or infrastructure decisions, or to electricians seeking jurisdiction-specific trade certification.
The most direct benefit is stronger internal capability to design, operate, and evaluate data center power systems. It improves the quality and confidence of engineering judgement at every level of the team.
Organizations see improved decision-making around power architecture, redundancy strategies, and capital investment, particularly when engineers can evaluate the trade-offs between resilience, complexity, and cost with a structured framework rather than relying on convention or vendor guidance.
Across engineering, operations, sustainability, and commercial teams, a shared technical vocabulary around power systems improves collaboration and reduces the friction that comes when different functions approach infrastructure decisions from different knowledge bases. For sales and product engineers, the course directly supports more credible and technically confident client engagement on power-related topics.
This course is available as on-demand e-learning, live instructor-led delivery (public or private), or a hybrid of both. On-demand allows learners to progress at their own pace and fits around shift patterns. Live private delivery is available for teams and organizations who want a dedicated session tailored to their context. Contact us to discuss the right delivery method for your and/or your team.
All live, instructor-led DCD Academy courses are designed and delivered by practicing data center industry professionals, including engineers, operations managers, and subject matter experts with real-world experience in mission-critical environments. Our trainers are not generic educators: they bring direct facility experience that makes the content immediately applicable to how data centers actually operate.
Yes. DCD Academy is an IACET-accredited provider, and this course awards IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs) that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard. IACET accreditation is the internationally recognized standard for continuing education and training quality.
Completing the Data Center Power Professional course and passing the final course exam leads to the Data Center Power Professional (DCPP) certification, an industry-recognized credential that formally demonstrates mastery of critical power in data centers.
DCPP is also one of two courses that form the pathway to the stacked Data Center Specialist (DCS) credential. Completing Data Center Power Professional alongside the Data Center Cooling Professional course and passing both exams earns the DCS certification, in addition to the standalone DCPP certification.
The Data Center Power Professional (DCPP) course is one of two courses in the Data Center Specialist (DCS) certification pathway, the other being Data Center Cooling Professional.
Completing both courses and passing each final exam earns the DCS certification, which signals advanced technical data center knowledge to employers, clients, and partners.
Upon passing the final course exam, you will receive two credentials.
The first is your official DCPP certification carrying a unique certificate ID for authenticity verification and a record of the continuing education credits earned. The certification can be saved for personal records, attached to job applications, or uploaded to an internal HR or learning management system, making it straightforward for organizations to track training completion across teams.
The second is a verified digital badge issued through Credly, which can be shared directly to LinkedIn and other professional networks. For organizations running structured training programs, the digital badge gives learners a visible, shareable signal of their achievement and gives L&D teams an easy way to evidence program participation externally.
You may also add the certification's abbreviation (DCPP) after your name in professional contexts, for example, in your email signature, business card, or LinkedIn headline.
If you have achieved both the Data Center Cooling Professional (DCCP) certification and the Data Center Power Professional (DCPP) certification, you will also be awarded the Data Center Specialist (DCS) certification. You will receive a certificate, digital badge, and post-nominals for this stacked credential.
Yes, all DCD Academy courses result in continuing education credits. The on-demand course results in 0.7 CEUs (equivalent to 7 CPD). The live course results in 2.1 CEUs (equivalent to 21 CPD).
Yes. Organizations training teams through DCD Academy can access the Workforce Development Platform, a proprietary tool that gives leaders real-time visibility into their team's capability levels, knowledge gaps, and confidence scores. Rather than relying on completion records alone, the platform turns training data into actionable workforce intelligence.
Before training begins, learners complete a diagnostics assessment that establishes a capability baseline, measuring both knowledge and confidence across the topics covered in the course. After training, the diagnostics is repeated, giving you a precise, quantifiable measure of knowledge gain and confidence improvement at the individual, team, and regional level. Leaders can monitor results through a live dashboard, filter by individual or team, and use the data to make informed decisions about where to focus further training investment.
For organizations building structured training programs or managing training across multiple sites or shifts, the platform removes the guesswork from workforce development and gives you a defensible, evidence-based picture of team readiness.
DCD Academy is the only data center training provider that combines industry-recognized certifications, practitioner-designed courses, and a proprietary Workforce Development Platform that measures team capability in real time. DCD Academy training is developed from DCD's 26 years as the data center industry's leading intelligence source, meaning course content reflects current operational realities, not static syllabuses. We train teams across 87 countries, including hyperscalers, colocation providers, enterprise operators, advisors and vendors.
