Colt Data Center Services extended its modular product range with space options ranging from 125 to 375 sq mt and introduced mix and match options of 120 deployment configurations. 

The company said individual modules can be deployed in configurations with different power densities to meet specific space and power requirements.

 

In addition to the 1500W and 1625W per sq mt power densities in its existing 500 sq mt modules the company can now extend this up to 3000W per sq mt or reduce it to 750W per sq mt across each of the latest designs.

Another development is the addition of a weatherproof option which for the first time can see the modules deployed as a standalone option outside a building shell. 

Colt pre-manufactures the data centers before transporting them for assembly on-site. The firm entered the modular data center market with the introduction of an award winning 500 sq mt model.   

“This increased choice in floor space and power provides customers with a data center that fits into any building for any type of application,” said Bernard Geoghegan, Executive Vice President of Colt Data Centre Services. “We have had tremendous interest from a number of customers across a variety of industries including financial services, retail and logistics, all looking for a customised, flexible, low risk solution that is not only efficient but quick to deploy.” 

The company said the new designs mean customers are not restricted to having all their technical space with the same power density or Tier configuration (multiple Tiers within a single module can be deployed). The customer could, for example, have a 125 sq mt, 3000W per sq mt module to support their Cloud applications, alongside a 375 sq mt m2, 1500W per sq mt for conventional server and storage equipment.

Last year Colt invested £40m in its own data center site just north of London. The site houses an original 500 sq mt module.
