The Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TSEC) has opened a new data center to ensure security and reliability of financial transactions.

The facility in Banqiao District was under construction for nearly three years and comprises a total of ten floors: seven above ground and three underground. It has already started offering cloud and colocation services to the country’s largest businesses.

TSEC calls the facility “world-class” and says it has been equipped with advanced disaster recovery functionality. As a testament to this, the data center has been certified to TIA-942 – a standard developed by the Telecommunications Industry Association that includes guidelines for planning and building data centers, particularly with regard to cabling systems and network design.

The tower

The Taiwan Stock Exchange broke ground on its latest data center in 2013, aiming to considerably modernize its IT estate. The facility is located in a newly built data center park in Banqiao, in Taipei’s technology corridor which enjoys strong connectivity and is already home to a number of technology companies.

The data center was built in cooperation with Chunghwa Telecom, and offers total area of 28,647 sq m. It features dual power generation, with two independent electricity feeds provided by Taiwan Power Co, and has been designed to withstand flooding, fire, and earthquakes of up to magnitude 7.

The TSE will share the data center with the Taipei Exchange, which operates the local over-the-counter market, and the Taiwan Futures Exchange.
