DynaMax Plus – Armstrong World Industries

Armstrong World Industries has introduced DynaMax Plus, a structural ceiling grid system that combines the accessibility and flexibility benefits of existing Armstrong DynaMax grid with greater load carrying capacity.

It also provides greater construction efficiency due to the capability of 6’ and 8’ rod drop spacing compared with typical 4’ spacing.

The new grid system offers a structural solution to suspending mid-span loads up to 1,090 lbs at L/360, and it can handle static point loads of up to 1,800 lbs.

In addition, the increased spacing of the threaded rod drop reduces installation time and materials, and saves money by eliminating up to one half of the threaded rod drops needed for 4’ hanging spans.

Fully accessible system

Available in 2’ x 2’, 2’ x 4’, 4’ x 4’, and other module sizes, the system is fully accessible, allowing for future expansions and upgrades. What's more, cross tees that are not bearing any load can be removed to provide access to the plenum, without compromising the structural integrity of the system.

The DynaMax Plus structural grid can be used selectively in project layouts where heavy loads need to be suspended from the grid. Conventional acoustical grids and panels can be easily integrated with the structural grid where load carrying is not required. This creates an easy and smart approach to providing strength where needed.

The DynaMax Plus structural grid is installed using the same process as existing DynaMax grid with notched grid members. The 6’ spacing allows for direct attachment to steel joists or pre-cast concrete tees.

In addition, spanning 6’ or more eliminates the need for slotted strut channels at deck/roof level and creates more space for critical MEP components.

The new grid system is part of the Armstrong Sustain portfolio of products that meet the most stringent industry sustainability compliance standards today.

In addition to data centers, other applications for the structural grid system range from laboratories and clean rooms to broadcast studios and casinos.
