The partnership sees STT take over operations at the renamed STT VNG Ho Chi Minh City 1 (previously referred to as VNG Data Center), and the establishment of a new facility, STT VNG Ho Chi Minh City 2.

Launched in 2021, the 12,400 sqm (133,470 sq ft) VNG facility in Tan Thuan offers 9.6MW of capacity across 410 racks – and up to 1,600 racks at full build-out.

The second data center building, located 1.5km away in Tan Thuan, is expected to be operational in the first half of 2026. It will offer up to 60MW of capacity.

“We are thrilled to partner with VNG in our venture to build and operate data centers in Vietnam. VNG's deep local knowledge, carrier neutrality, extensive customer and partner network, and commitment to technological innovation perfectly align with STT GDC's vision. Together, we bring a unique blend of global and local expertise to deliver a new international standard of data center solutions, supporting Vietnam's digital transformation journey,” said Lionel Yeo, CEO Southeast Asia, STT GDC. “Vietnam is at the cusp of significant growth in the data center market, and we firmly believe that the combined strengths of both partners will enable us to serve the local market with agility and pace.”

Established in 2004 and formerly known as VinaGame, VNG is an Internet services company founded in Vietnam. Its businesses include online games, eCommerce, messaging and social media platforms, a music streaming service, and digital payments. The company offers cloud services via its VNG Cloud unit. A VNG data center in Hanoi opened in 2007.

Le Hong Minh, founder & CEO of VNG Corporation, added: “We believe our partnership with STT GDC, a globally recognized leader in data center operations, will set new service standards worldwide for Vietnam's data center industry as well as introduce our products and services to international markets.”

Across APAC, STT operates data centers in China (in partnership with GDS); Japan; South Korea; India; Philippines; Thailand; Malaysia; Indonesia; and Singapore.
