There’s been an announcement of €2.5 million in extra financing for Qarnot, a French company that wants to replace domestic heaters with small servers, capable of heating homes for free while carrying out distributed calculations.

Meanwhile Max has been looking at the Pigeon - LinkedIn’s first foray into hardware development. The Pigeon is a 100G switch with basic server capabilities that will be deployed at scale at the upcoming data center in Hillsboro, Oregon. There are currently no plans to give the blueprints to the open source community.
