Data center operator TierPoint LLC has completed its expansion of the Milwaukee facility it acquired as part of its purchase of smaller operator Cosentry earlier this year.

According to JSOnline, the expansion had been planned previously by Cosentry - which took control of the data center after acquiring Red Anvil in 2014 - and brings an extra 17,640 sq ft (1600 sq m) to the building, bringing the total size to 38,000 sq ft (3500 sq m).

Wednesday, 2 June, will see TierPoint celebrate the expansion’s opening. The company says that the Tier III compliant “facility is ideally suited for production workloads or as a disaster recovery site with high-speed access to TierPoint’s 39 data centers in 20 markets”. The expansion means there is over 5,000 sq ft of raised floor space in Phase I, with further Phase II expansion space ready.

St Louis-based TierPoint has been on a bit of an acquisition spree as of late, recently acquiring AlteredScale and its Chicago data center, Windstream’s data center arm, CXP Data Centers and Xand, to name but a few.

This February also saw TierPoint open Oklahoma’s largest data center, a 69,000 sq ft center with 34,000 sq ft of raised floor space. The new facility was actually an expansion of a center the company took control of after acquiring Perimeter Technology Center in 2011.
